“A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step” – Lao Tzu

There is a lot of wisdom in this ancient Chinese saying. For the developing jazz guitarist, these first steps includes learning your major scales (ALL of them!) throughout the neck, learning basic “jazz” chords, some theory (so you’ll know how all of this works together), and some ways to get you going on improvisation. We’ll cover all of that here, along with tips for improving technique and tone, suggestions for jazz tunes to work on, comping…you get the idea! You’ll find PDFs and audio files to download, plus links to videos that explain the PDFs. I will be updating this area as often as my schedule allows, so please check back often. –Mike
