Guitarists and electric bassists…imagine spending a week in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, just minutes away from Yosemite National Park (one of the natural wonders of the world.) Then picture yourself at a week-long workshop where you attend master classes with a stellar faculty, studying improvisation, technique, theory, and more. There’s a jam session or concert every night, for students and faculty, followed by an epic hang. The week wraps up with a gig at a local winery, where everyone performs.
This isn’t a dream–it’s the Yosemite Jazz Guitar Workshop. Every summer, guitar and bass players from all over the US (and the world!) convene for this event. Founded by jazz guitarist and former GIT teacher Rich Severson in 2000, the YJGW is a fantastic opportunity to study, meet great players, and get inspired. Faculty includes Rick, Mike Dana, the amazing Todd Johnson on bass, and additional guest faculty like David Becker, Robert Conti, Mitch Holder, Pat Kelley, Tim May, Frank Potenza, John Stowell, Barry Zweig, and many others.
Contact the Yosemite Jazz Guitar Workshop for info on upcoming workshops. Hope to see you there!
