Description
Kenny Dorham’s Blue Bossa has become a favorite jazz standard. This arrangement, for intermediate level vocal groups, features a wordless vocal statement of the melody with some nice contrapuntal touches. A punchy vocal soli sets up the solo section, open for any soloist (vocal or instrumental), with understated vocal backgrounds. A strong tutti (voice plus rhythm section) section showcases the drummer for 16 bars. Then, a half-step modulation leads into the final chorus and a strong ending. The driving Latin groove in the rhythm section creates a lot of energy. Look no further for a strong festival set closer! A master rhythm chart (mostly chords/slashes) is included.
