Haiku

$50.00

Description

Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry, written in a pattern of 5 – 7 – 5 syllables. I was intrigued by this rhythmic idea, as well as many of the traditional Japanese scales. This alto feature, a moody even-eighth note ballad, is the result.

Haiku is score for 5 saxes, 8 brass, 4 rhythm plus optional (but recommended) vibes/percussion. Brass ranges are very conservative: lead trumpet to G5, lead trombone to G4. Rhythm section parts are fully notated, with chord symbols where appropriate.  A written solo is provided, as are changes if your soloist wants to improvise (always encouraged!)

Every set needs an evocative ballad. This could be the perfect one to showcase your lead alto player.
