Description

Like A Lover (O Cantador) is one of Brazilian composer Dori Caymmi’s most beautiful and captivating songs, and a personal favorite. Its haunting melody and harmonic surprises are beautifully captured in this arrangement. This medium-slow bossa chart opens with a simple two-part vocal texture over light piano/guitar chords, then modulates for the bridge and solo sections, and again for the final verse. Sophisticated voicings in both the vocal writing and rhythm section are used throughout. A brief improvised section can be taken by an instrumental or vocal soloist. This Level IV chart will work well for good high school through university level vocal ensembles. SATB with rhythm section.
