Description

It’s Monkey Time was commissioned by Paul Lucckesi for the San Joaquin Jazz Festival. This medium-up swing chart revolves around the rhythm section groove that starts at the top. The solo section (open for anyone; solo sheets included) is perfect for young improvisers…it’s mostly one chord! Notated rhythm parts and easy brass ranges are a plus for younger bands. And, as you’d expect in a chart with a title like this, there’s a little bit of band vocal/chant (check out the end of the demo!) This chart will come together quickly, flatter your soloist(s), and be an engaging festival chart. Best part: next time a students asks you what time it is, you’ll have an answer :)-
